ground kontrol to major tom...

We were getting a little comfortable staying around the Northeast, so the other night we decided to branch out and head downtown to our favorite spot.

The first time we came to Portland, we found this little gem of a place called Ground Kontrol.
It's filled with every imaginable arcade game from our youth downstairs and the upper level is a golden pinball cache. I lost a lot of money on the Addams family machine! Coincidently, they serve cheap beer. Not my fault right? After quickly draining my alloted five dollars, we decided to find a nice little place to chat and have a few more beverages.
The door man directed us to a spot called The Tube.
Hints the name.
Good atmosphere for the most part minus being able to chat because of the DJ's preferred volume of eleven. Excellent food though. Four hard earned bucks gets you a savory vegan hot dog, a few pepperoncinis and decent amount of chips with a tasty corn salsa. We called it an early night because we both, yes both, had work in the morning. (it also gets dark at around 4:30 during the fall/winter here and makes us unusually sleepy) Rebbecca our house mate gave me the opportunity to help out a her shop Kush Handmade Carpets. This is kind of a temp thing, nothing steady, but I had a lot of fun learning the art of folding and moving a large inventory of rugs. ( i also got to remember how to tie a slip knot. thanks boy scouts!) Other than hanging and moving around massively heavy rugs I did some touch up painting and cleaned up dust bunnies. Business has been a little slow the last few months due to the economy bein' such a mess, but I learned a new trade and got to get out of the house for awhile.
Lastly, but not leastly.
